Frequently Asked Questions

1. How will my gift be delivered?

A hospital patient opens a giftWe understand how important it is that your gift arrives on time. We therefore:

  • despatch your gift - at the latest - on the next working day (provided you place the order by 6pm)

  • send the gift by recorded delivery, so that it must be signed for on arrival.

  • Our experience is that the overwhelming majority of goods are delivered on the next working day after we post them.

The Delivery Schedule below shows the days when you can reasonably expect Royal Mail to make the delivery.

If you place your order by 6pm on When we will despatch the gift When Royal Mail expect to deliver the gift
    Sunday Monday Tuesday
    Monday Tuesday Wednesday
    Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
    Wednesday Thursday Friday
    Thursday Friday Saturday
    Friday Saturday Monday
    Saturday Monday Tuesday

Please allow an extra day for each public holiday that falls within the delivery schedule.

    2. But what if I place my order just before a Bank Holiday?

If any of the days is a public holiday (i.e. the day you place the order, the day we would otherwise despatch the gift, or the day Royal Mail would otherwise deliver the gift), please allow an extra day for each public holiday.

    3. Who signs for the delivery in a hospital?

If a percel is sent to a hospital, home or similar institution, it will normally be delivered to a central reception point, where it will be signed for. (Note. Neither we nor Royal Mail can accept any liability for delays in delivering gifts from the reception area to your friend or loved one, so please take care to supply us with as accurate an address as possible, including a ward or unit name or number where appropriate.)

    4. Can I specify a particular delivery date?

Yes. If you ask for a delivery date later than the normal delivery date shown in the chart above (see Question 1), we shall defer despatching the gift so that it arrives on the day you choose. A question in the Order Form will enable you to enter your preferred delivery date, if you so wish.

    5. What happens if the gift arrives damaged?

We take considerable trouble to make sure that your gift is securely packed before we despatch it, and our experience shows it is extremely rare for goods to be damaged in transit. However, if an accident does occur, we can be contacted on 01582 834400. (We enclose a note with each delivery asking the the person receiving the gift to phone us on this number if the goods are damaged.)

    6. What happens if my friend or loved one is no longer in hospital when the gift arrives?

If the reception area in the hospital (or similar institution) is aware that that your friend is no longer there, and does not sign for receipt of the parcel, Royal Mail will return the gift to us. We shall then e-mail you. If you can supply us with an alternative delivery address, we shall send the gift there (though we shall need to make a small chanrge to cover the additional postage).
If the reception area is not aware that your friend has left, we have found that the best solution is for your friend to arrange for someone to collect the gift from the hospital on their behalf. If this is not possible, your friend (or someone acting on their behalf) can phone us on 01582 834400.

    7. How do I write the greeting card that accompanies the gift?

There is a facility in the Order Form to type in your message. We shall then hand-write this on the card. (The Order Form also allows you to select the card.)

    8. How can I pay?

    By credit or debit card.

    9. How safe is it to use my credit card? Will my data be stored securely?

This is a secure site, as demonstrated by the https:// URL in the Address box near the top of the screen, and by the small yellow padlock towards the bottom right of the screen. These appear when you enter the Order Form part of the site.

Your credit or debit card number is held securely and will not appear on screen or in any emails after you leave the Order Form page.

Please see also our Privacy Policy.
