A Friend in Need is run by Julie Bell and Richard Brett. We have both spent many years in corporate life and know what it is like to be overworked and busy, with very little time in which to attend to all the things that we want to do. Yet all of us are concerned about our friends and family and want to show them that we care, especially when they are unwell. And finding enough time even to do that can sometimes be very difficult. So our hope in creating A Friend in Need has been to allow other people to overcome the problem and send thoughtful gifts which they can select with care in a matter of minutes.
 

Finding a gift that is suitable for someone poorly can often be tricky. Their state of health - and the narrow range of interests they can pursue while they are incapacitated - often severely limit the options available. The web site therefore offers some advice on the best presents to choose for a particular friend or relation. Our advisory panel includes a state registered nurse and an occupational therapist. We want to be certain of offering the best possible advice.
